ഗവ.ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ നേരിടുന്ന പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ മനസിലാക്കിയൽ ഒരുപക്ഷേ ഇതിനൊരു ഉത്തരമാകും എന്ന് കരുതുന്നു. പ്രധാനമായും ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരുടെ Digital അജ്ഞതയാണ് സ്വതന്ത്ര സോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയർ നയം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടും Ubuntu ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതിൽ നിന്നും അവർ പിന്നിൽ നിൽക്കുന്നത്. പ്രധാനമായും കേൾക്കുന്ന പരാതികൾ ഇവയാണ്, Ubuntu -ൽ പ്രിന്റർ വർക്ക് ചെയ്യില്ല, scanner work ചെയ്യില്ല, മലയാളം ടൈപ്പ് ചെയ്യുവാൻ പറ്റില്ല (അതായത് വിൻഡോസിലെ ISM ubuntu ൽ വർക്ക് ചെയ്യില്ല, അയ്‍നാണ്), pay revision calculator, Income tax calculator (Excel based) ഇവ വ‍‍ർക്കു ചെയ്യില്ല. Libre Office, Ms Office നെ ക്കാൾ വളരെ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടാണ്…etc Ubuntu - നെ ക്കുറിച്ച് ആരോട് സംശയം ചോദിക്കും ? Windows ആണെങ്കിൽ എല്ലാവർക്കും അറിയാം. അങ്ങനെ ആകെ മൊത്തം Total, കുറവുകൾ മാത്രം ഉളള സോഫ്റ്റ്ർവെയറാണ് Ubuntu. Ububtu 16.04 ഇപ്പോഴും പല ഓഫീസുകളിലും ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. അതൊന്ന് update ചെയ്യാൻ പോലും ആർക്കും അറിയില്ല. സാധാരണ ഉദ്യോസ്ഥരുടെ കാര്യം മാത്രമല്ല, Technical Support നൽകുന്ന contract സ്റ്റാഫുകളുടെ അവസ്ഥയും ഇതൊക്കെ തന്നെയാണ്. ചുരുക്കി പറഞ്ഞാൽ സ്വതന്ത്ര സോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയർ - എന്ന ആശയത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് ഗവൺമെന്റ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർക്ക് യാതൊരു ധാരണയുമില്ല. ഭൂരിഭാഗം ഉദ്യോസ്ഥർക്കും Digital awareness ഇല്ല. scan ചെയ്യുക, print എടുക്കുക, email ചെക്ക് ചെയ്യുക ഇവയൊക്കെ ഇന്ന് ഭൂരിഭാഗം ആളുകൾക്കും അറിയാം ആയൊരർത്ഥത്തിൽ Digital literacy ഉണ്ടെന്ന് നമ്മൾ കരുതും. പക്ഷെ eOffice ൽ ചെയ്ത ഫയൽ പ്രിന്റ് എടുത്ത് പേനക്കൊണ്ട് ഒപ്പിട്ട് അത് സ്കാൻ ചെയ്ത് eOffice ൽ uplaod ചെയ്ത് വെച്ചാൽ Digital ആയി എന്ന് കുരുതുന്ന ആളുകളാണ് ഭൂരിഭാഗവും. Yahoo mail ന് വേണ്ടി ഒരു manual register സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിൽ ന്യായീകരണം കണ്ടെത്തും. ജോലി ഭാരം കൂടിയാലും ഓൺലൈൻ ചെയ്യുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങൾ print എടുത്ത് paper file ആയി സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിൽ യാതൊരു ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടും പലർക്കും തോന്നാറില്ല. ഗവ.ഓഫീസുകളിൽ സ്വതന്ത്ര സോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയർ ഉപയോഗം കാര്യക്ഷമമാകണമെങ്കിൽ ഗവ.ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരിൽ നല്ല രീതിയിൽ Digital awareness ഉണ്ടാകണം. Ubuntu ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതിൽ ഒരു training/awareness class ഉണ്ടാകണം. ഗവ.ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ Digital കാര്യങ്ങളിൽ self sufficient ആകണം, അതിന് ഗവ.വകുപ്പുകളിലെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് ഒരു Digital certificate course (including Free software) പാസാകുന്നത് ഗവൺമെന്റ് നിർബന്ധമാക്കിയാൽ നന്നായിരുന്നു. അതല്ല എങ്കിൽ സ്വതന്ത്ര സോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയർ കമ്മ്യൂണിറ്റി സപ്പോർ്ട്ട് സ്ഥിരമായി നൽകാൻ കഴിയുമോ എന്ന്ചിന്തിക്കേണ്ടി വരും. ---

pdf-shuffler വളരെ ഉപകാരപ്രദമാണ്, ഇപ്പോൾ പലരും . online sites ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് ചെയ്യുന്നത്. LIOS - മലയാളം pdf text ആയി Convert ചെയ്യാം. പക്ഷെ Malayalam OCR install ചെയ്യണം. 3 എണ്ണം ഉണ്ട്. tesseract-ocr tesseract-ocr-ml tesseract-ocr-script.mlym ക്ലർക്കുമാർക്ക് പറഞ്ഞു കൊടുത്താൽ ഒന്നും മനസിലാകില്ല. ഒരു തവണ Demo കാണിച്ചു കൊടുക്കണം. ഒരു തവണ ഉപയോഗിച്ചാൽ പിന്നെ സ്ഥിരം ഉപയോഗിക്കും. അത്രക്ക് ഉപകരിക്കുന്നതാണ് LIOS. ---

In case anyone interested in hacks/contributions, take a look at [poppler-utils](https://poppler.freedesktop.org/). This is underlying library used for signature verification. ---

Digital Signature ന് Adobe ആവശ്യമില്ല. പക്ഷെ NIC eoffice ന് Adobe ന്റെ Authentication ആണ് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതെന്നാണ് കേൾക്കുന്നത്. അതിനാൽ Adobe version 9 Ubuntu ൽ ഉപയോഗിക്കേണ്ടി വരുന്നുണ്ട്. Adobe reader ന്റെ പുതിയ versions ഇപ്പോൾ Linux support ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല. e office documents Libre Office Draw- ൽ Signature ok കാണിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. പക്ഷെ validat ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയുന്നില്ല. ---

പ്രധാന തടസമായി പറയുന്നത് ഡിജിറ്റൽ സിഗ്നേച്ചര്‍ ഇടുന്നതും വെരിഫൈ ചെയ്യുന്നതുമായ കാര്യത്തിനാണ്. അതിനൊരു വ്യക്തമായ സൊല്യൂഷൻ കണ്ടെത്തുകയും smc യുടെ ഡിജിറ്റൽ സാക്ഷരതാ പദ്ധതിയുടെ തുടര്‍ച്ചയായി ഗവണ്‍മെന്റ് ഓഫീസുകളിൽ സ്വതന്ത്രസോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയറിലേക്ക് മാറ്റുന്നതിനുള്ള ട്രൈനിംഗ് നല്കാൻ സാധിക്കുകയും ചെയ്താൽ ഇതിനൊരു പരിഹാരമാവുമെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു ---

@mujeebcpy ഗവൺമെന്റ് സംവിധാനത്തിന് പുറത്ത് നിന്ന് അത്രയെങ്കിലും ചെയ്യാൻ കഴി‍ഞ്ഞാൽതന്നെ വലിയ മാറ്റങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാവും. KITE പോലൊരു support system ഉണ്ടായാലും മതി.
